Artist statement: During the times when my mental health was at its worst, there was one place I would go. The Masjid (Mosque). I would sit on the carpeted floor, my back against a concrete pole as I stared at this exact view. Hours would go by as I contemplated and probably had a good few cries if I was lucky. In between prayers, the space felt so much bigger, it was quiet and empty. Just me and God. I always left feeling comforted, loved and connected to my purpose. Then I would come back the next day.
